Two years ago, I successfully exited my business. For many, this would be the pinnacle achievement – the end of the story. However, I faced a new challenge: an abundance of free time and a need for more fulfillment than the traditional retirement lifestyle had to offer.
I am accustomed to structure, purpose, and continuous growth. The idea of reinventing myself as a consultant or guru seemed appealing initially but ultimately insincere. I realized that my true passion lies in engaging with fellow entrepreneurs, sharing my experiences, and being part of the dynamic business world once again.
Through networking events, I discovered a new role for myself. Rather than positioning myself as an advisor or guru, I listen. If they ask, I share my experiences with enthusiastic entrepreneurs. They lead the conversations, taking what they find valuable. Sometimes, just talking through ideas proves beneficial. Occasionally, these interactions lead to investment and partnership opportunities, which is nice. Still, the trust and friendships that grow from these interactions are the true rewards and source of fulfillment that was missing.
To me, business is a game—one that I love. By re-engaging with the entrepreneurial community, I have found a way to continue playing the game while making a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
