Forget Mindset. Show Up.

Let’s have a heart-to-heart about this whole “mindset” thing.

We’ve all heard the gurus and influencers preaching about the power of a growth mindset, right? And sure—they’re not wrong. But let’s be honest, has anyone ever changed their mindset because someone told them their thinking was wrong?

Mindset shifts don’t come from finger-wagging, motivational posters, or TikTok influencers. They come from life. From experience. From doing the work. They show up when we’re ready—not when someone else says we should be.

Here’s the real day-to-day of running a business:

  • Time? Never enough of it.
  • Money? Always tight.
  • Expertise? We’re making it up half the time.
  • Motivation? Some days we’re unstoppable. Others, we’re just trying to survive.

This isn’t a mindset problem. It’s just real life. And no amount of positive thinking is going to solve it.

But here’s what I’ve learned: You don’t have to fix your mindset first. You just have to keep showing up.

Every damn day. Do the work. Take the next step. Sometimes, the mindset shift doesn’t come until after the action. And that’s okay.

So the next time someone tries to sell you a better mindset, remember: You’re already doing something most people are afraid to do.

You’re running a business. You’re still standing. That’s a stronger mindset than any guru or course could ever sell you.

Instead of chasing a mindset upgrade, try this:

  • Lead by example.
  • Build a culture where learning happens naturally.
  • Be patient—with your team, and with yourself.
  • Respect the grind, and the different ways we all get through it.

Mindset shifts aren’t forced. They’re earned.

Keep showing up.
Keep moving forward.
That’s the real work.
Not in a seminar.
Not in a journal.
Out there, in the mud.
